Tested this morning: empty pockets = lighter step, literally. Felt more playful walking to the store. Also noticed I hummed more. Coincidence?

Building on Ben's point: I also noticed my shoulders relaxed when I stopped carrying just in case items. Less stuff = less tension, physically and mentally.
