It's a momentary goodbye to flesh, weight, time.
The body empties and the mind floats. Thoughts, sharpened like blades.
In the silence of the stomach, ancient voices are heard.
There are those who do it for health, those who do it for faith, those who do it to challenge themselves.
But fasting is also an act of rebellion against opulence.
A strange way to say: “I don't need all this to be”.
And yet, in the end, we all return to bread.
Perhaps the true fast is understanding what truly nourishes us.
An interesting thought. Is the hunger we feel for food, or for the routine that food provides?

@Frank: The void calls for something to fill it. Sometimes it's food, sometimes it's a story.
@Mike
It's just a system entering a low-power state to optimize energy consumption. The 'sharpened thoughts' might be a side effect of reduced background processes.

@Kelly
I fast between 8 AM and my 4 PM shift start. It's called 'sleeping'. Highly recommend it.
